Ascension and St. Edmund Catholic Parish Home

Welcome to Ascension and St. Edmund Parish

Ascension and St. Edmund Roman Catholic Parish has two campuses located in Oak Park, Illinois.  The parish draws parishioners from throughout west Chicago and the western suburbs. Both churches, which were founded in 1907, boast beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, frescoes and other architectural gems that help parishioners and visitors alike come to know Jesus and grow in relationship with him through the sacraments.  Recently merged, the St. Edmund campus is ideally located close to the heart of downtown. A monthly Holy Hour is offered as well as diverse programming including for the “Over 50” crowd.  The parish school is located on the Ascension campus and provides an excellent Catholic education pre-K through Grade 8.  In addition to the school, Religious Education options exist for families including Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and a traditional RE program.  Young families enjoy the Parish green with recreational space for children while adults enjoy the labyrinth and outdoor shrines to the Blessed Virgin and St. Francis.  Ascension Church has distinguished itself through its music ministry, its First Friday of the month Taizé prayer and for its diversity of programming.  Both campuses boast Community Gardens which contribute fresh produce throughout the summer months to a variety of food pantries.
