Advent 2015 at Ascension

Advent Evening Prayer

Wednesdays, December 2nd, 9th and 16th

at 7:00 p.m. in church.

A service of light, incense, silence and intercession with psalms and carols of the season.

Contemplative Prayer

This Advent give yourself the gift of time for this prayerful practice of silence and inner awakening. The 45 minute gathering includes a twenty minute period of silent meditation followed by a reading and simple faith sharing/discussion in groups. We will meet in the upper sanctuary area of church, near  the Blessed Sacrament altar, on Saturday mornings, December 5th, 12th and 19th at 8:30 am.

Contact David Anderson at for more information.

Taizé Prayer

Friday, December 4th at 7:30 pm in church.

A service of word, song and silence in The Spirit of the Ecumenical Community of Taizé.

Advent Prayer - sponsored by the Adult Faith Formation Committee

Searching for Emmanuel on the Margins

Sunday, December 6th at 3 pm in church.

Come to pray in Advent's darkness and silence, highlighting the O-Antiphon, “O Key of David,” hoping the Spirit will unlock our hearts to receive the light and the Word of God at Christmas.

Let a reflective seed be planted in our hearts, so that beneath the rush to decorate, party, buy presents, we might humbly seek Emmanuel "on the margins" of our society, and joyfully serve him there. Three speakers from the margins will give short talks: an immigrant, a care-giver of a person with Alzheimer's (Doug Wyman), and a bereaved family member of someone killed by gun violence (Julie Richardson, sister-in-law of Deacon Lendell). Don't miss this opportunity for a deeper Advent and a more joy-filled Christmas.

A Holy Day of Obligation marking the beginning of the JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY.
