The Ascension Parish family is one that relies on the gifts of our community to provide a high level of service to its parishioners and surrounding communities.
We invite you to get involved in one of our many organizations. Below you will find a few specific opportunities that are upcoming or ongoing, or we invite you to visit the following pages with additional information on parish ministries and organizations.
For questions or additional information, please contact the Parish Center at (708) 848-2703 or email Jim Wojcik at email@example.com
We thank you for your commitment to our community!
A lector has a very important role in the Eucharistic liturgy. Giving voice to the Word of God provides a unique opportunity to open one’s self to the action of the Holy Spirit in having the Word come alive for the Assembly.
We have many wonderful lectors here at Ascension, but we are always looking for additional people who are interested in offering their gifts to the Parish through service.
The training has two parts: the initial session will take place at 10 am on Saturday, June 2 in the choir room of the Church. Then a practical session which will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 10 am. Please register at the parish office with Jim Wojcik (in person at 808 S. East Ave., by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at (708) 848-2703), and pick up a book to review prior to June 2. We look forward to working with you and having you share your skills and gifts with the parish!
Ministers of Communion share in a very important role in the Eucharistic liturgy. At each celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic ministers assist with sharing in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow brothers and sisters in the assembly. Some of our parishioners even receive special training to take the Eucharist to the sick and homebound of our parish as Ministers of Care.
If you think being a Minister of Holy communion is a ministry you might be interested in, please contact Jim Wojcik at the parish office. An introductory formation and training session, led by David Anderson, will be held on June 9 at 10 am in the Church.
We would also strongly encourage married couples, especially those with younger children, to consider being trained together and serve individually at Masses where you attend and participate at Mass as a family.
We will again be hosting our Summer Lunch Program for the Needy, to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters, on Saturdays June 9, 16, 23 and 30, July 7, 14 and 21, and August 4, 11 and 18.
If you are able to work a lunch, donate food, money, sponsor a lunch, make bag lunches or offer any other kind of assistance, please sign-up HERE or contact: Bob Kutella at: (630) 863-1046 or email@example.com.
ALWAYS NEEDED ITEMS: New men’s and women’s socks and underwear, gently used gym shoes, t-shirts, jeans.
