Language Arts, Junior High

Mrs. Eileen Lippi, Ms. Katrina Vainisi, Mr. Michael Klawitter

The sixth, seventh and eighth grades language arts curriculum will use myPerspectives Literature Series published by Pearson Education.

In sixth grade Mrs. Lippi concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing in an eighty-minute block period each day.  We use a novel-based approach.  There is a writing assignment for each novel we read. The theme we use for the year in our novels is “coming of age”.  Mrs. Lippi teaches 6th grade Language Arts.

Mrs. Lippi's  and Mr. Klawitter's 7th grade Language Arts class cover the themes fitting in and alienation.   Six novels are covered during the year.  We also do vocabulary work in Wordskills, a McDougall- Littell book, and Grammar using The Write Source

The eighth grade language arts curriculum concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing in an eighty-minute block period each day.  We use a novel-based approach.   The theme we use for the year in our novels is “social justice and our responsibility”.  We also work on creative writing, along with essay writing and note taking skills. Mrs. Vainisi teaches 8th grade Language Arts.
