Tomorrow is the last day of school for 2016-17. All students will be dismissed at 11:45AM.
A brief Prayer Service will be held at 10AM.
Extended Day Care will not be available after 8AM.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Ms. Mary Jo Burns and

Ms. Therese Burns’ mother passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2017.

Mrs. Josephine Burns will be waked on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Sheehy Funeral Home at 9000 West 151st Street, Orland Park, from 3 to 8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Christina Church located at 3342 West 111th Street, in Chicago at 9:30 AM.

Please keep the Burns family in your prayers.

NOTE: The School Office will be closed on Friday, 6/9/17 so staff can attend Mrs. Burns’ Funeral. We will return on Monday, 6/12/17.


Congratulations to the Award-Winning Class of 2017! They were sent out into the world on Monday evening with a lovely Liturgy and Ceremony. We wish them all the best that life has to offer.

This is the final Mailing for the 2016-2017 school year. We wish you a peaceful, restful, and fun summer with family and friends. Office staff will be in the school until the end of June from 8AM to 3PM Monday through Thursday and 8AM to Noon on Fridays. We will be in the office intermittently during the month of July. We return August 1st on a daily basis. You can drop any papers off at the Parish Center if the school is closed. You will be receiving a Summer Mailing that will include Emergency Medical Forms that will need to be completed for EACH child in the school, along with class lists, and other pertinent school start-up information. Mark your calendars: Monday, August 21st, students are in school from 8AM to 10AM to bring supplies, get acquainted with their lockers, classes, etc. We begin school at 8AM on Tuesday, August 22nd. This is our first full day of classes. Happy New Year!

Congratulations to the Student Council Officers for 2017-18

Many fine candidates presented their outstanding campaign speeches to the junior high students earlier today. The following students were elected to the 2017-18 Ascension School Student Council. Congratulations to President Will Zimmer, Vice President, Dominic Nowicki, Activity Director, Samuel Hansen Treasurer, Gregory Price and Secretary Lucas Garcia. Your fellow students will look to you for leadership next year.

June 8th is an “OUT OF UNIFORM DAY”

This gives you time to wash out-grown uniforms and bring them to the exchange on Thursday. Home & School is collecting all your gently used uniforms. A marked bin will be just inside the entrance for collections of all uniform items and any gently used backpacks - no holes or stains please. On the last day of school, 6/8/17, please come down to the Pine Room after 8AM and enjoy a cup of coffee compliments of Two Brothers, while you look through the selection of uniforms. Both coffee and uniforms are free for the taking!!!


Sunday, June 11th - Mary Jo Burns’ Retirement Reception

Please join us for a reception to celebrate Ms. Burns' 20 years as Ascension's principal. We will join together for 11AM Mass and follow with food and fun to say one last goodbye, on Sunday, June 11th. Mass will be followed by a reception from 12:00 noon to 2:30 PM. All are welcome. Teach the Children Appeal
Families should have received information about the the Children Appeal from Ascension’s Office of Institutional Advancement. This scholarship program helps several families attend our wonderful, diverse and dynamic school. We are urging our generous school community to consider making a legacy gift in honor of Principal Burns’ retirement.


Open Registration

Ascension School has limited openings in all grades for the 2017-18 school year. Tell your family and friends that they are welcome to call or visit our wonderful school. We are happy to provide more information. We ask all current families that have not yet registered to contact the school office as soon as possible so we can make plans for you to be with us next year.


Final Tuition Payments are due by June 15th

The final tuition bill for 2016-17 will go out on Thursday, June 1st. All tuition accounts must be zeroed out by June 15th as we are switching to the new tuition management program FACTS. Please contact Mary Fitch with any questions at m.fitch@ascensionoakpark.com


Register by June 10 for Ascension’s New Tuition Collection Service

We will be using the FACTS tuition management service next year. All families are required to enroll. There is a minimal fee for this convenience. You have payment plans to choose from. You can choose to pay the annual tuition up front and there will be no registration fee. If you choose to pay semiannually or monthly, there will be a $40 fee per family. To begin the process go to the school’s websitewww.ascensionoakpark.com and click on the FACTS logo to create your account. This process must be completed by June 10, 2017.


Box Tops for Education

We are attaching a collection sheet just to remind you to clip your Box Tops for Education. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents cash to the school. Please save them over the summer. You can drop them in the collection basket at Sunday Mass, drop them off at the Parish Center, or just collect them and turn them once school begins. We will redeem the collection at the end of October (the first installment for the 2017-18 school year). Thank you for your support!
