Over 110 high school aged teens and around 50 adults traveled to two counties in Kentucky during the last full week of July to make houses Warmer, Safer, and Drier as part of the Appalachian Service Project (ASP). About 20 adults here in Oak Park also participated in an 8-day Rosary prayer group to support and bolster the ASP participants, the families who were being served, and the ASP staffers. Each day of the trip, between all these adult participants, a complete 20 decade Rosary was prayed. We had about 10 Confirmation Candidates, and several adults welcome back the ASP participants on July 27 by cleaning out the vans. This was all made possible by generous donations given by parishioners. Thank you for your supporting the youth and adults of the parish to spread God’s love to the poor and less fortunate in Appalachia. We are currently investigating ways for you to hear the stories that the youth and adult participants had while on the trip. If you have any questions about ASP or would perhaps like to participate next year, please contact Matt Goto or Paul Kraft at email@example.com.
