Music Ministry News—Join us and let your faith sing out!
Consider sharing your musical gifts with the music ministry of our parish! We have two choirs for adults and one for children and youth. All adult choirs are open to singers, high school age and older. All new potential adult members are asked to contact David Anderson at the Music office, 434-1535, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
♫ The Schola rehearses 2-3 Tuesdays each month and normally sings at the 9:00 am Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Our first rehearsal is Tuesday, September 10 from 7:30-9:00 pm. New members in all voice parts are welcome!
♫ The 11:00 am Choir rehearses every Wednesday evening and sings at the 11:00 am Mass on all but the first Sunday of each month. Our first rehearsal is Wednesday, September 11 from 7:30-9:15 pm. New members in all voice parts are welcome! The 11:00 am Choir is especially in need of extra basses!
♫ The Choristers for young people in grades 3-8 begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 18 from 3:05-4:00 pm in church. A snack is served at 3:05 pm. Contact Mr. Anderson if you have any questions. Permission slips will be available through both the School and Religious Ed programs. Choristers normally sing twice each month at the 9:00 am Mass. (1st and 3rd Sundays beginning in October.)
An alternate rehearsal time for middle school students—Choristers who attend middle school (whose schedules do not allow for the 3:05-4:00 pm rehearsal time) are invited to participate from 3:45-4:30 pm.
♫ The String Ensemble plays for the 5:00 pm Mass on the 4th Saturday of each month. Rehearsal is before the Mass. Membership is open to all high school string players. Adult string players are also welcome to join this group as well. For more information, contact our Associate organist and director of the String program, Becky Coffman at email@example.com or 708-434-1561.
♫ Ascension Cantors lead and assist with the sung prayer of the assembly at every Mass. Rehearsals are usually once each month. Special coaching and ongoing formation is provided. Some cantors belong to a choir while others do not. Consider sharing your voice with the parish!
♫ Other Instrumentalists of the parish are also welcome to offer their talents at various parish Masses. We currently have several parishioners who play once a month at different weekend Masses. If you are fairly proficient at a particular musical instrument and would like to offer your talents, then give David Anderson a call or send an email as noted above. Music is provided.
