In the Spirit of Taizé for Friday, April 3

Dear friends of the Ascension Oak Park monthly Prayer in the Spirit of Taizé,

We will be missing each of you on Friday evening! This will be the first time that we have not been able to gather as a community on the first Friday of the month in over 25 plus years!

Perhaps each of us could take time on Friday evening or another suitable time to spend time in prayer, song and solidarity as we continue to pray for peace and healing in our world, especially, healing and comfort for all of our sisters and brothers who are impacted by the coronavirus.

Take time to sing, alone or with others. (See the links below to join in several familiar songs from Taizé.)

Take time to read and reflect on one of the following passages from scripture. Romans 8:31-39 or John 14:1-6. "Nothing can separate us from the love of God!" While we are indeed separated from many of our friends, colleagues and loved ones, let us find one way, each day, to connect with another person! When you do, try to remind them to "not let their hearts be troubled!" Let this become a daily prayer for you! Christ is with us!

Finally, take time for silence...a silence that moves us toward trusting. On this First Friday in Lent, at the end of our service together, we would have walked together to the Cross in small groups. We would have knelt down and entrusted all of our cares and burdens to the Risen Christ. I invite you to do this in your homes! Let's kneel down, touch the cross, and entrust all of our cares and burdens, and those of our entire world, to the healing power of a God who can only give love! The Risen One is always with us!
