Prayer in the Spirit of Taizé Resumes on Friday, March 5, 2021

Please join us on Friday, March 5th at 7:30 pm. Registration is required to attend in the Church. Please register in advance by following the link above, which will take you to our Taizé Eventbrite page. We will be able to welcome up to 100 for the service. We are also hoping to be able to live-stream the monthly prayer.

We are establishing a Taizé opening team to welcome and usher folks during the service. Contact David Anderson in the coming week if you are able to help us bring back our monthly prayer to Ascension.  Contact David at d.anderson@ascensionoakpark.com.

Dear Friends,

I invite you, your family, friends and neighbors to join us in a virtual Taizé Prayer as we unite our prayers and our songs for peace and reconciliation in our world. Our prayers are needed now more than ever.

Below are videos for September, November and December 2020. You can view them on our YouTube channel as well at  www.youtube.com/c/AscensionChurchYouTube

A Parable of Community

In the Spirit of Taizé is an ecumenical form of prayer modeled after the Taizé community (an ecumenical Christian monastic community of brothers) founded in the 1940's by Br. Roger in Taizé, France. The purpose of the prayer is to foster reconciliation and peace among all people. Christians of all traditions share in this ecumenical prayer. The simple monthly service consists of song (using the simple chants of the Taizé community), scripture, a service of light, an extended period of silence for meditation concluding with prayers for the world.
Taizé Prayer Service Schedule
Annually on January 1, the World Day of Prayer for Peace, at 7:30 PM
Monthly on the first Friday at 7:30 PM | February through December
On Good Friday of each year, we offer a Taizé Prayer Around the Cross at 3:00 PM. Please note that if Good Friday falls on a first Friday, there is no evening 7:30 PM Taizé service.
