Family Religious Education
The Family Catechesis program is a hybrid program for students in Grades 1 through 6. Families who enroll in Family Catechesis meet on a Sunday morning once a month at the Giles campus in McDonough Hall for 75 minutes of reflection, discussion and activities – first as a family, then separately for parents, students in Grades 1 through 3, and students in Grades 4-5 and Grade 6. Teams of catechists will work with each grouping for about 45 minutes. Families will then work on specified sessions in the grade-level Loyola Press books with their students for the remainder of the month, sending in online assessments for each student’s session
Family RE – Class begins on Sunday, September 10 at 9 am on St. Giles Campus.
Students also receive formation for the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation at the appropriate age and readiness through the parish Sacrament Preparation program. The formation for all sacraments includes students and their parents in a multi-generational setting which fosters prayer, formation, and service throughout their preparation process.
You are invited to become a catechist of the Family Catechesis Program – No experience is necessary except for an open heart and a willingness to share your faith with the future of our Church. At monthly meetings catechists receive the presentations that the children will receive the following month. There is ongoing support in a community of caring women and men with the same desire to walk with our children on their faith journey – and a perk of being a catechist is that if your child is in the program there will be a 50% reduction in their tuition.
